BONE PAIN June 27, 2007

Filed under: Diagnosis — susanjeide @ 11:52 pm

This is going to be short and sweet.  Well not so sweet.  I’m in terrible pain!  It has been constant since last night around 2am.  I’m a mess!  Russ just lays with me and rubs my back .  That is all I can do.  It’s a very hard, hard, hard day and night.  Bone pain is some of the worst pain a person can feel  It is something you can’t escape or relieve.  That is my quick update. I’m off to lay with my wonderful Hubby!

Good Night

Bone pain huh? Well, maybe this will make you feel better:

This morning I was getting ready for work and I have this pair of jeans that Cristina picked out a long time ago. (I mention that specifically because the jeans that I pick out by myself tend to be pretty loose fitting.. a carryover from my days as a skateboarding teenager in baggy, saggy pants.)

Anyway, back when I was running half-marathons and dieting and such, Cristina picked out this pair of jeans that have a bit of a tighter cut and style than I usually wear. Nothing gratuitously tight, just a little bit snug. (You know, for the ladies.)

So I wear these jeans when I go on sales presentations because they look a bit more professional than my baggy jeans. I pulled them out this morning and put them on.. uh-oh. These have gone from “a bit snug” to “gratuitously tight”. Apparently I restarted my diet a little too late this time. The solution, although simple, is a bit… comedic.

I call them Levi Lunges. You gotta put the jeans on, then start stretching them out by doing strange twists, turns and… well.. lunges all over the living room floor.

It’s quite a work out. By the time you are done you’ve either stretched them out or exercised enough that they fit somewhat modestly again.

This is mostly your fault for serving pizza for dinner last night. Now I’m probably going to get a charley horse or some kind of odd cramp in the middle of my sales call because of over-exerting my quads and hamstrings. So don’t give me any of this garbage about bone pain…

    Levi Lunges, indeed.

Susie, have you tried a hot bath with Epsoms salt? If not, please try it, it might draw out some of that pain. You can buy it pretty much anywhere. Put A LOT in the bath and soak. Sorry you’re hurting honey. When I used to go visit my Grandma she would cry from the bone pain. She said there was nothing like it. I would try and massage her and it was awful how much pain she was in. Sorry you’re hurting honey.

Hey Susan! I just had to write tonight to say I think I may have seen Ryan around town today – I saw this guy with a hole in his jeans (you know – a tear on his behind). Maybe you should let him know!

  4. Rachelle Phillips Says:

Hey Babe….I hope today is better. Give Tyler big kisses from us. We will miss him. =) Make sure you call if you need me…I will be waiting. XOXO

  5. Ryan Says:

    Brynn,

    Stop looking at my behind….

Okay you can keep looking, but be more discreet.

I am sure Susan will give you all an update when she’s up to it. She was in tremendous pain the last couple of days but has some new meds that we are hoping will help. All of our kids have left for Montana so distraction on the blog will be great for her and I (not that this is all about me or anything!)

Are you kidding me? We have a man telling us about Levi Lunges? Women INVENTED Levi Lunges! Usually I just need to get down of the floor and change a few diapers, and this takes the place of anything resembling exercise. But the one thing I did learn today was a good name for what I had been doing for all these years! Thanks Ryan!

    Hi Susan –
Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you. If you start getting really tired of the quiet, I would be happy to loan you my kids for a couple of hours! Sometimes the three of them make enough noise for 20. Just let me know!

Ryan – thanks for the visual. Next time have Christina videotape you. That would be more fun…

    Hi Susan,
Wanted to let you know that I am here and checking up on you.
How sweet your husband is to be so nurturing. That’s awesome.
    Keep praying.
If God brings you to it,
He will bring you through it.
    Love,
    Kathleen

I know it might be miserable however their are some medications which may help with the pain. You are going through enough without suffering from something which may be able to be improved with modern medications. Have Russ or yourself call me if you have any questions.
    Take care
    Larry
